Deja Vu all over again

I've only had this blog for about a week and already I'm repeating experiences.  Guess who forgot their wallet again today.   I thought I grabbed it as I ran out the door and put it in my pocket but it turns out that I grabbed a camera instead.

Can you tell the difference?..... Neither could I.
The good thing was that I didn't need to get out the cardboard and sharpies to beg for money and because Candi and I went to work together she drove home (because I didn't have my driver's license).

Last week you may remember me telling about Candi and I being stuck at a train crossing because the arm was stuck in the down position.  A lady got out of her car to hold up the arm so we could get through.  I never saw anyone do that before and I wished I had a camera to capture the moment.  You'll never guess what happened on the drive home today.   Believe it or not another arm was stuck in the down position and another person was out holding it up so we could drive through.   But this time I had a camera (but no wallet).  Too funny.

The person last week was more attractive and had better fitting pants.

Why do I blog?

Angie had a wonderful post about why she blogs. The scripture reference about "publishing" really had an impact on me. I really appreciated her thoughts and it got me thinking about why I blog. I initial did it because of a petition from family members. Basically I fell to the pressure. But I am enjoying it and as I thought about it there were 2 main reasons why I'm doing this.

1) To keep my family and friends up to date (especially my daughters who are away).

2) To tell my stories to my kids and grandkids as sort of a personal history - 1 post at at a time. They will be random. I'll post stories as they are relevant (like the shoe on the bus story - Angie mentioned it in a comment and Jacqui asked about it) or maybe totally random as I remember them.

Reason 2 was partially inspired by Randy Pausch and the Last Lecture.  He was the charismatic young college professor who chronicled his battle with pancreatic cancer in a remarkable speech widely-known as the "Last Lecture." Unfortunately he died on July 25th at the age of 47. But that only gives his "Last Lecture" even more meaning. Check out the Diane Sawyer interview on the first link in this paragraph if you have the time.

If anyone else would like to read these posts, they are welcome to do so. I might even add some stories for you if ask.

Correction and answers to LDS Trivia

1974 Picture Butte Elks

This is in response to Sheila's response to my trivia question. She correctly named 2 of the LDS players on the team. Brian Heninger #14 and Micheal Oliver (#34). She said she didn't know the other 2. She did make 2 incorrect guesses. I'm very disappointed and frankly a bit hurt that she didn't know that I was one of the other 2. The final one would be David Russell from Diamond City. He is behind Brian Heninger in the picture.

Tom Marsden was a coach and he did serve as a Bishop of the Picture Butte Ward. He is the coach on the left side of the front row.

I did make one mistake - only 2 are currently serving as Bishops - not 3 as I indicated in the earlier post. One would be Micheal Oliver in Picture Butte. Sheila - any idea who the other one would be?

More trivia - All 4 of of the "Mormon Backfield" did serve missions.

Smile!!

There is a group of Japanese exchange students here to study English.   One happens to be a member of the Church and we took him to Stake Conference with us today.  After Conference we invited him over for lunch.   It was fun.   He wanted to get a picture with us before he left.   I thought you might enjoy it.
